Help Us Discover the Forgotten Side of Cinema!

At The Workprint Project, our mission is simple: to discover, document and preserve the fascinating world of rare, unfinished and alternative versions of films.

But we can't discover everything on our own!

That's why we're reaching out to fellow film enthusiasts, collectors and archivists who might have something interesting to contribute to our growing collection.

Do you have something rare sitting on a shelf, stored on an old hard drive or tucked away in your personal film collection? We'd love to hear from you!

What Are We Looking For?

We're interested in hearing about all kinds of unusual and historically significant film releases, including:

  • Workprints: Early or unfinished versions of films featuring deleted scenes, alternative dialogue, unfinished effects or different endings.

  • 35mm Film Prints: Original theatrical film reels, rare scans and unusual cinema presentations.

  • Screeners: Promotional copies, preview versions and industry screeners.

  • VHS: Rare tapes, television recordings, uncut releases and unusual international editions.

  • Betamax: Vintage Betamax releases and hard-to-find recordings.

  • Laserdisc: Rare editions, exclusive special features and alternative film presentations.

  • CAM Recordings: Historical cinema recordings documenting theatrical presentations.

  • Deleted Scenes & Alternate Cuts: Unreleased footage, extended editions and previously undocumented versions.

And that's not all!

If you have something that doesn't fit into these categories but you believe deserves a place in film history, we're still interested.

Every Discovery Has a Story

Sometimes the most fascinating discoveries aren't the films themselves, but the differences hidden within them.

A workprint might contain an entirely different ending. An early VHS release might feature scenes removed from later editions. A Laserdisc could contain exclusive behind-the-scenes material unavailable anywhere else.

Even a photograph of a rare release, an original production document or information about a previously unknown version can help us piece together the history of a film.

No discovery is too small to discuss!

How Can You Contribute?

If you have something you'd like to share with The Workprint Project, simply visit our Contact Us page.

Tell us a little about what you have, including the film's title, the version or format, and anything you know about its history.

We're particularly interested in screenshots, release comparisons, technical information, documentation and details about rare editions.

Where appropriate, we can discuss ways to document or preserve material that you own or have permission to share.

You don't need to be an expert or professional archivist. Just having a passion for film history is more than enough!

Let's Preserve Cinema History Together
